Intentional Camera Movement (ICM) may seem like a novel technique. Especially with 2019 on the horizon, many photographers are taking up the challenge of ICM; many practical records and works have been uploaded to YouTube and Instagram. However, this technique is not novel.
More than 40 years ago, Freeman Patterson mentioned and practiced the technique of “moving the camera while shooting” (jumping to shoot trees) in his book “Photography and the Art of Vision”.
Inspired by “Photography and the Art of Vision,” I began to take up the challenge; I was 30 years old.
ICM is fascinating, fresh and inspiring. But it was much harder than I thought.
Now, 40 years later, my new challenge has resumed, and I feel that the images of ICM are more in line with my constitution.
