An amateur should enjoy the freedom

Experimental approaches such as multiple exposures, long exposures, binaries or I.C.M. (Intentional Camera Movement) are fun. But we mustn’t forget the joy of the random street shot. This is something I have felt strongly about recently. There is no doubt in my mind that the real appeal of photography is when it is taken as it is on the spot, and when it is taken Straight out of camera. I feel that way too. I am not a professional photographer, so I don’t need to be obsessed with methods and styles. An amateur should enjoy the freedom of expression that comes with being an amateur. I have realised the importance of establishing ordinary everyday life with basic methods. I want to spend each day in a quiet and ordinary way, without any pressure. It must mean that I am getting older. This is why I decided to contribute a page under the title ‘Ordinary days’.

アマチュアは自由を楽しむべきだ

多重露光、長時間露光、バイナリ、あるいはI.C.M.(Intentional Camera Movement) など、実験的な取り組みは楽しい。しかし作為のないストリートショットの楽しさを忘れちゃいけない。最近強く感じていたことだ。それも現場で撮影したまま、撮って出しこそ写真の醍醐味ではないだろうか？そのようにも感じている。まあ、私はプロの写真家ではないのだから、手法やスタイルに拘る必要などないはずだ。アマチュアはアマチュアとしての自由な表現を満喫すべきではないだろうか？
平凡な日常を、ベーシックな手法で定着することの大切さに気づいたというわけです。
その日その日を無理なく静かに平凡に過ごしたい。きっと歳をとったということだろう。
というわけで、「平凡な日々」というタイトルでページを投稿することにしました。
